The Digital Creative Conference in Tokyo was an event organised by the British Council to bring together artists, curators and creative thinkers from Japan and the UK to discuss ‘digital transformation for the cultural sector’.
Sumo’s managing director, Jim Richardson travelled to Tokyo to speak about how social media is transforming the way in which British arts organisations are promoting their exhibitions and performances.
Whilst in Tokyo Jim also appeared on Looops TV, a programme about social networking and the internet where he talked about Sumo’s work for British arts institutions and compared the use of social media in Japan and UK.
Jim was also interviewed by Japanese design magazine Brain, which will feature Sumo in an upcoming issue on social media.
Jim Richardson said, ‘Sumo have developed international profile for our work with the arts and this is reflected by how often we are being asked to speak at conferences in the UK and further afield.’
‘Tokyo was an incredible experience and I came away with many new ideas’.
Sumo now hope to develop the contacts made in Tokyo to partner with Japanese arts organisations to help them to make better use of the internet to promote themselves to new audiences.
