Northumbria University has appointed Sumo to develop a brand identity for an exciting new contemporary art space, due to open in January 2009.
Sumo will be tasked with creating the brand identity and website for the Gallery and Studios, which are currently undergoing a significant refurbishment. Once complete, the development will bring two exciting projects together under one roof: Gallery North and Graduate Studios Northumbria.
Gallery North will be an important new addition to Newcastle's burgeoning art scene. The Gallery, based within Northumbria University will bring big international names to the region as well as showcasing emerging, homegrown talent.
Located above Gallery North will be a new artist's studio resource created to support and nuture emerging creative talent. Graduate Studios Northumbria will provide recent graduates with generous studio space to help them develop their practice.
Jim Richardson, Managing Director at Sumo, says, "It's always exciting to be involved in new, cultural developments and we hope we will help boost the profile of this cutting edge, contemporary space. Newcastle's cultural arena is exceptionally vibrant at the moment and a space such as this will complement that perfectly."
Work to develop the brand identity will begin immediately and Sumo will work with both University staff and current Fine Art students during the development process.
