Sumo to create the brand for the home of British cave art

7th July 2008

Sumo have been appointed to breathe fresh life into one of the UK's most significant archaeological sites, Creswell Crags, as it prepares to open an £8 million museum and visitor centre.

Creswell Crags in Nottinghamshire is a limestone gorge honey-combed with caves; during the last Ice Age this was one of the most Northerly places visited by our ancestors. These inhabitants left rich archaeological deposits including stone tools, animal bones and the only cave art found in Britian.

In 2007 Creswell Heritage Trust, the organisation responsible for safeguarding the future of the site, successfully raised the funding to develop a new Museum and Education Centre which will tell the story of Ice Age Britian and explain the special place which Creswell Crags has within it.

Sumo was appointed following a credentials presentation in June, the new brand identity for Creswell Crags will be launched in October. The brief covers the creation of brand guidelines to apply this new identity across all communications and marketing materials.

Jim Richardson, Managing Director at Sumo said, "Creswell Crags is a fascinating site and we are delighted to have been appointed to help them raise its profile ahead of the launch of the new Museum."
