Sumo has been appointed to develop the launch campaign for The Hepworth Wakefield, a major new contemporary arts venue which is due to open in Yorkshire in spring 2011.
The collection of the Hepworth Wakefield will include works by Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore – two of the greatest artists of the 20th Century who were both born in Wakefield.
The campaign includes posters for London Underground and mainline railways stations, and guerilla applications including a graphic stenciled around Wakefield.
The design uses the iconic shape of The Hepworth Wakefield to create a strong graphic symbol which will initially be filled with the gallery's opening date, then words relating the the gallery. Visitors will also be invited to upload their own words an images, which will be presented in the iconic shape and displayed online.
Jim Richardson, Managing Director at Sumo said, 'The Hepworth Wakefield will be one of the largest and most impressive galleries in the United Kingdom, our team are excited about playing our role in ensuring that the launch is a huge success'.
